Korea Donates Covid19 PPEs to Doctors’ Cooperative Society

Gume, in his speech applauded Korean government for being so generous to Uganda basing his statement on a number of projects that have been funded by the same state.

As countries around the globe battle contagious novel Corona Virus Disease –Covid19, the republic of Korea has today donated Personal Protective Gears –PPEs to Kampala Medical and Health Workers Cooperative Society [KMHWCS].

The PPEs were delivered to doctors at an event that was attended by State Minister for Cooperatives, Fredrick Ngobi Gume, deputy secretary of Korean Embassy in Uganda and Ivan Asiimwe, the head of Uganda Cooperative Alliance.

Gume, in his speech applauded Korean government for being so generous to Uganda basing his statement on a number of projects that have been funded by the same state. Some of these projects include Teju juice that is being made from Teso in a bid to add value to farmers’ oranges that were being bought cheaply.

The minister reminded doctors to be very transparent if they want their cooperative that started in 2017 to succeed. Doctors were also cautioned against engaging in leadership battles which Gume said have ruined several cooperatives.

Gume said cooperatives are never formed for profit maximization but should aim at raising savings. When doctors form a cooperative, according to Gume, they become very innovative thus helping the country to develop particularly in terms of medical research.

Dr Dan Atuhaire, the reigning Chairman of KMHWCS, said health workers miss a lot when they operate individual and scattered clinics. Operating under a cooperative, Dr Atuhaire said enables doctors pull medical expertise in one centre.
