UPDF, Police Ransack Bobi Wine’s Party Offices

Members of National Unity Platform –NUP led by presidential aspirant, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine were on Wednesday afternoon left in shock and fear as joint security agencies ransacked the party’s offices.

Police force in collaboration with Uganda People’s Defence Forces- UPDF raided the party headquarters at Kamwokya, in Kampala Central, at the time when Kyagulanyi was addressing the media about their plans to launch countrywide coordination Centres.

About 80 Field Force Unit –FFU and more than three dozens of Military Police used rudimentary weapons, powered metal cutters and other tools to break into offices where they vandalized a number of property belonging to Kyagulanyi and other party subscribers.

Security forces took red berets, overalls with security forces bibs, cash worth 23 million shillings and other stuff that were yet to be established.

Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga accompanied by UPDF deputy mouthpiece, Lt Col Deo Akiiki, later addressed the media insisting that the forces only picked attires that resemble those gazetted for of security forces among others UPDF and police.

“We have called this prompt briefing to tell you why we conducted the operation. The operation was on illegal use of security uniforms by civilians. This is a serious concern. Such uniforms are exclusively reserved of for armed forces in Uganda,” CP Enanga said.

Although Kyagulanyi and NUP Spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi, said the forces varnished with files containing the seven million signatures endorsing him for presidency, Lt Col Akiiki and CP Enanga did not mention them among the exhibits.

Ever since Bobi Wine expressed interest in challenging President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power since 1986, security forces have done all sort of evil against him including killing his supporters such Ritah Nabukenya and Daniel Kyeyune.
