12 Planes Land, Leave Entebbe Airport on First Day of Reopening

At least 12 planes belonging to various airlines including Uganda Airlines landed while others left Entebbe Airport on the first day of reopening. It should be remembered that the Airport just like in other countries had been shut in a bid to prevent the spread of novel Corona Virus Disease- Covid19.

President Museveni last week reopened the Airport to tourists and other people leaving Uganda. However, Museveni insisted that hotels and tourism companies must pick their visitors at the Airport and drive them to their places of residence and should ensure they do not mix with locals.

As Uganda Airline hit the skies to Nairobi today, minister Peter Lokeris, saw off the first passengers who over 20 in number. Besides, Turkish Airline and others had landed at the Airport in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

It should be remembered hotel and tourism industries in Uganda and across the globe have been severely hit by Covid19 lockdowns. Uganda earns more than I.3 billion US dollars per year which translates to close to 5 trillion shillings.
