All sorts of security agencies in the country have been deployed to avert likely chaos in Sembabule district as National Resistance Movement –NRM party goes for Mawogola West and Mawogola North primaries.

Maj Gen Stephen Muzeeyi Sabiiti, who is also the deputy Inspector General of Police, has picked camp in Sembabule district to command all the various security agencies to ensure no chaos is registered in tomorrow’s elections.

Voting in the two constituencies was postponed as other parts of the country went to NRM polls on September 4. This was because of bloody clashes between supporters of Shartis Musherure, a daughter to foreign affairs minister, Sam Kahamba Kuteesa and president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s young brother, Sodo Kaguta. Musherure and Sodo are vying for Mawogola North constituency.

In Mawogola West, battle is between Hanifa Kawooya and incumbent MP Kabiito. Kawooya was beaten early this month and she claimed that it was supporters of her rival.

Although Maj Gen Sabiiti had picked camp in the area on September 3rd, it did not stop violence from occurring until NRM electoral chairman Dr Tanga Odoi cancelled the voting exercise on the eve.

Voters in the two counties have already expressed concern that deviating from Museveni directive allowing even non-registered voters to participate in exercise could spark more conflict. However, other insist that only voters in NRM register should be allowed to vote.
