CID Arrests Masterminds of Fake Senior Police Officers’ Accounts

Inspector General of Police John Martins Okoth Ochola and his deputy Maj Gen Sabiiti Muzeeyi are some of victims of social media fake accounts.

Police’s Criminal Investigations Directorate has arrested three men suspected to have been masterminding fake accounts in the names of senior police officers.

Assistant Superintendent of Police –ASP Charles Twine, who is also the CID spokesperson, had earlier vowed the group would be arrested by the indomitable of electronic investigators.

The fake twitter and Facebook accounts have been made in names of Inspector General of Police- IGP John Martins Okoth Ochola, deputy IGP Maj Gen Stephen Muzeeyi Sabiiti, police spokesperson Commissioner of Police –CP Fred Enanga and deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police –ACP Polly Namaye.

“Like I indicated that the days of a thief are 40, Our indomitable Electronic counter measures squared has arrested three “punks” who have been operating fake police Twitter and Facebook accounts, posting all sorts of nonsense to ridicule our heard earned good image,” ASP Twine said.

ASP Twine said the three are being interrogated and they were found in possession of the very gadgets they using to operate these fake accounts.

“CID has built a formidable electronic counter measure and anti-cybercrimes team whose output will inevitably make the perpetrators endangered species,” ASP Twine said.
