Police Detain Housemaid Over Alleged Aggravated Defilement in Makindye

Police in Kabalagala are holding a 19-year-old housemaid in connection with the alleged aggravated defilement of a five-year-old boy in Makindye Division, Kampala District.

The suspect has been identified as Zaina Mary, while the victim is a five-year-old male pupil. Both are residents of Kimbugwe Zone, Kibuli Parish, where the incident reportedly occurred.

According to police, the alleged offence took place on June 6, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m. Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect was found engaging in acts amounting to aggravated defilement of the child, who was under her care at the time. The incident is said to have happened inside their house in Kimbugwe Zone.

Authorities have since taken the suspect into custody at Kabalagala Police Station as investigations into the matter continue. Police have not disclosed further details as inquiries are still ongoing.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal confirmed the arrest and urged the public to remain vigilant when entrusting children to caregivers.

She advised parents and guardians to exercise caution by conducting proper background checks when hiring domestic workers and to take necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of children under their care.

Police say the suspect will remain in custody pending the completion of investigations.
