Police Investigate Suspected Suicide in Entebbe

Police in Entebbe are investigating a suspected case of suicide following a domestic dispute that resulted in the death of a 22-year-old woman in Kitoro, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District. The deceased has been identified as Nakigudde Carol, a housewife and resident of Kitoro Zone.

According to SP Rachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, the incident occurred on May 16, 2026, at around 11:00 p.m., when Nakigudde allegedly picked a quarrel with her husband, Husama Mukiibi, over 450,000 Ugandan shillings. The money was reportedly her share from a local savings group and had allegedly been delivered through the husband, who did not hand it over to her.

SP Kawala said that during the altercation, Nakigudde allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed herself in the neck despite efforts by her husband to restrain her.

“She was rushed to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at about 1:00 a.m. on May 17, 2026,” SP Kawala stated. She added that investigations into the incident are ongoing. SP Kawala also urged victims of domestic violence to seek assistance from the Police Child and Family Protection Unit.
