Hillary Byaruhanga, a private security accused of killing Ntinda car dealer, Anthony Mutinisa, on Sunday afternoon has been arrested in Kanungu district reportedly fleeing to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Mutinisa, who reportedly often went to his office to balance accounts on Sunday afternoon, was attacked at round 4pm by Byaruhanga when he was alone in the office. Police have since established that Byaruhanga used a single bullet to end Mutinisa’s life and later on fled with unspecified amount of money and his V8 Land cruiser.
Police Spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke, confirmed that Byaruhanga, who is aged 28 has been arrested in Kanungu district. Rusoke added that Byaruhanga was arrested with another man, Mark Akampa, who allegedly connived with him to commit the murder.
“Byaruhanga Hillary, a 28-year-old private security guard attached to Don World Security Limited, has been arrested in Kanungu District for the murder of Anthony Mutinisa, a 53-year-old businessman and proprietor of Mutinisa Motors Uganda,” Rusoke said.
Rusoke said Byaruhanga was found with the deceased’s vehicle UA 769 BQ, which has been recovered in Katwe Cell, Kihihi Town Council, by police in Kanungu. Mutinisa was the proprietor of Mutinisa motors and driving school located at Martyrs way road in Ntinda, Nakawa Division, in Kampala.
Byaruhanga, according to some of the staff led by Hassan Bukenya, was liked by the deceased and he trained him to drive cars and was more of his personal assistant. “We don’t know what prompted Byaruhanga to kill our boss. They were close and we don’t know what attracted this murder. It is only Byaruhanga who can tell us what prompted him to kill a person who liked him so much,” Bukenya said.

Byaruhanga, according to police investigations first cut off CCTV connectivity and scaled inside the deceased’s office. Police found torn curtains an indication that Mutinisa tried to defend himself but was probably overpowered by people who were many. Mutinisa’s body was found near the bathroom as he tried to hide himself after being shot.
Earlier on, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala metropolitan deputy police spokesperson said security agencies had joined hands to trace for Byaruhanga’s whereabouts.
