Following two full terms as Chairperson National Association for Broadcasters -NAB, Kin Kariisa chairperson Next Media has thrown in the towel.
Dr. Innocent Nahabwe of Galaxy FM has been appointed the new chairperson NAB.
Dr. Kariisa leaves a reputation of resilience with steering the wheel of media during the covid-19 pandemic, standing against violation of Broadcasters’ rights and unjust policies against them including the most recent where all advertisements in Uganda were to go through only UBC ,the national broadcaster.
“After a remarkable couple of years at the helm of NAB Uganda, I am humbled to announce my retirement as Chairman of the NAB Executive. It has been an incredible journey serving alongside my dedicated team and esteemed members of the media industry, “Kariisa posted on X.
Praises have been sung over Kariisa with a number congratulating him onto the next level and feeling nostalgic about his retirement.
Chris Baryomunsi,the Minister Ministry of ICT and National Guidance commended Kariisa for his outstanding leadership on media freedom and unity . He said; “Your leadership as Chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters has been greatly appreciated by the government. Thank you Kariisa for your outstanding contributions.”
Kariisa has as well been appointed Chairperson Board of Trustees NAB where the media will continue to clean from his leadership.
