Police Arrest Three Suspects Linked to Alleged Criminal Gang in Kira Municipality

KIRA, Wakiso District — Police in Kira Division have arrested three suspects believed to be members of a criminal gang known as “BONA BAFU” during an intelligence-led operation conducted in Agenda, Mbalwa-Namugongo, Kira Municipality.

According to police, the operation was carried out on May 26, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m., leading to the arrest of the three individuals suspected of involvement in a range of criminal activities within the area.

The gang is alleged to have engaged in crimes including burglary, theft, phone snatching, and assaults on members of the public using paving stones. Police further allege that the suspects were involved in the consumption and possession of narcotic substances.

During the operation, officers recovered several exhibits, including suspected marijuana leaves and bundles of rolled suspected opium. The suspects have since been charged with possession of suspected narcotic substances and are currently being held in police custody pending prosecution.

Police said investigations into the group’s activities are ongoing and reaffirmed their commitment to combating crime and enhancing the safety and security of residents across the Kampala Metropolitan Area. “We reaffirm our commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of residents within the Kampala Metropolitan Area,” police said in a statement.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to dismantle criminal gangs and address rising incidents of urban crime in the metropolitan region.
