Police Probe Aggravated Robbery in Kyengera, Recover Stolen Motorcycle

Police at Kyengera Police Station in Nsangi Division are investigating a case of aggravated robbery that occurred on March 9, 2026 at about 10:00pm between Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District and Mpigi District.

According to police, the incident involved a 19-year-old boda boda rider who operates at Kings Sport Betting, Kinaawa Branch. The rider was reportedly hired by two unknown men from Kyengera Trading Centre who requested to be transported to Kyengera Parents Primary School in Mugongo “A”.

Police say that after travelling a short distance, the suspects asked the rider to continue further towards Mpigi District. Along the way, they were joined by another accomplice who was armed with a panga.

During the journey, the suspects allegedly turned on the rider, grabbing him by the neck before robbing him of his motorcycle, registration number UDX 457B, a red Bajaj Boxer valued at about UGX 3 million. They also took his Samsung mobile phone valued at approximately UGX 300,000 and UGX 50,000 in cash.

The attackers then fled the scene on the stolen motorcycle, leaving the victim behind. The victim reportedly raised an alarm which attracted nearby residents. With the help of the community, one of the suspects identified as Zziwa Moses was arrested and handed over to police.

According to police, the suspect later led officers to Wakimese Cell in Kyengera Ward where the stolen motorcycle had been abandoned at a parking yard. The motorcycle has since been recovered.

One suspect is currently being held at Kyengera Police Station where he is assisting with ongoing investigations. Police say efforts are underway to identify and arrest the other suspects who are still at large. Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that investigations into the aggravated robbery are ongoing.
