BY F MALE: Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), in partnership with Deniz Feneri, a Turkey-based organization, has donated food items and cash to 350 vulnerable Muslim refugees in Kisenyi.
Speaking to journalists at Nakivubo Blue Primary School on Wednesday evening, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, the KCCA Executive Director, said that while inspecting the ongoing road construction in Kisenyi, she observed several vulnerable communities, including refugees and nationals who needed assistance.
She noted that when she was approached by Deniz Feneri Organization, the authority decided to extend a helping hand to the refugees in Kisenyi, who were asked to register voluntarily.
Through this iftar donation, 200 Muslim refugees each received a 28kg package of food items, while 150 others were given cash amounting to 100,000 shillings to use for iftar during the month of Ramadan.
She urged fellow Muslims to support vulnerable people, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Jamil Nsubuga from Deniz Feneri expressed gratitude to KCCA for granting them access to vulnerable people to benefit from the iftar donations. He added that because of the good relationship between the Turkish Embassy and KCCA, they are committed to continuing their partnership with the city authority to reach needy people in Kampala.
It is worth noting that the same organization donated to Muslims in Kiteezi last year following a landfill tragedy in which over 30 people lost their lives and several others were injured.
