Kadaga Rallies Busoga Sub-region to Unite Ahead of 2026 Polls

BY DANIEL MUMBYA: Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, Uganda’s first Deputy Prime Minister, who is also Kamuli district Woman MP, has rallied Busoga region to unite and forget the issues of NRM central executive committee position which left Busoga region in pieces.

‎During the election of the central executive committee Busoga region suffered a lot due to the struggle between team mama Kadaga and team Annet Anita Among who many called sister in-law because she is married to MP Moses Magogo who comes from Buyende district. Slogans of team Maama Kadaga and team Mulamu (sister in-law) dominated NRM central executive race hence living Busoga region divided.

Many Basoga have not found it easy to stomach the truth that Kadaga lost even in Busoga to Among who is also the Speaker of Uganda Parliament. However, Kadaga said people need to unite and ensure that NRM wins Busoga Sub-region with at least 80% in the general election of 2026.

Kadaga remarked while launching NRM campaign in Iganga district and official launch of the manifesto of the aspiring member of Parliament Kigulu South constituency on NRM ticket Patrick Kayemba. This was at Magogo Primary School, Nawanyingi Sub-county Iganga district. Kadaga appealed to Busoga Sub-region to vote NRM to protect the gains in their respective areas.

‎Many programs have been introduced to the public to improve on the status of their standards of living like emyooga, youth lively hood and now there’s parish development modal PDM which have reduced unemployment among the youths and majority of Ugandans.

‎In additional a number of cash crops have been introduced to different districts in Busoga Sub-region such as palm oil farming in Mayuge, Bugiri and Namayingo district. Red Pepper farming in Mayuge and Kamuli district to enhance agriculture in the country with ready market both outside and inside Uganda.

‎Kadaga added that Busoga University is now on the final stage of renovation by the UPDF by the end of the this year 2025 it will be ready to start as a government University. This she said will ease the education system of Busoga through reducing on the distance traveled for higher learning.

‎This university will create a number of opportunities to community around by creating market for their good, house for renting and development of the infrastructures like roads and health services, she narrated.

‎Kayemba Patrick promised to people of Kigulu south constituency to improve on the health centers starting from Iganga general hospital to be upgraded to a referral hospital. This is because it serves many districts like Mayuge , Luuka, Namutumba and Bugiri district .

‎Due to lack of enough services for the population attended too many have lost their beloved ones because of the increased ratio of patients to health officer not as it was planned. ‎”I will make sure the constituency will also get a piece of cake from the National budget through presenting your views on the follow of Parliament and am to lobby for my people in all sectors ” Kayemba said.

‎Many attended the event like the state minister for agriculture animal husbandry and fisheries hon Fred Kyakulaga, Iganga woman member of Parliament Kauma SaudhaAalibawo, the NRM flag bearer Iganga woman member of Parliament Mariam Saif, chairperson local government Iganga Gabula Ezera and all national resistance movement flag bearers in iganga district at all levels.
