
Police operations in Kampala Metropolitan have led to the arrest of 46 suspects. According to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson said an intelligence-led operations in various areas resulted in arresting of several suspects and impounding motorcycles with tilted number plates.
Onyango explained that the operations were carried out in Naggalama town in Mukono district, Katwe police division, Naalya and Kira all found in Wakiso district. At least four suspects were arrested in Naggalama Town for selling opium and marijuana and have since been charged with possession and frequenting places of smoking opium.
“The exhibits recovered in Naggalama include opium, knives, and marijuana. In Katwe Police Division, 7 motorcycles were impounded, and 25 suspects were arrested in operations targeting crime. In Naalya, mostly at Kasita Matiya arrested for robberies and snatchings, found with panga, knives, and opium. Identified by victims, detained at Kira Police Division,” Onyango said.
In Kira Municipality, 18 suspects were arrested in Nsasa, Bulindo, Katuli, Kigambo, and Namugongo for possession of narcotic substances. The exhibits of opium and marijuana were recovered. “Operations aimed to curb crime, including shop breakings, burglaries, robberies, and phone snatching.”
