With hours left to NRM internal parliamentary primaries, it has emerged that West Budama constituency incumbent Fox Odoi and his rival Richard Owere Michaka clashed in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. The incident recorded at Tororo Central Police Station is registered under reference SD REF: 49/14/07/2025 and SD REF: 107/14/07/2025 occurred at Padula Zone, Padula Parish, Paya Sub-County, West Budama North-East Constituency in Tororo District.
According to Inspector of Police –IP Moses Mugwe, the Bukedi South-Region police spokesperson, West Budama constituency incumbent Fox Odoi together with his agents were attacked by a group of men led by one Jackson Oketcho Kiracho an agent of aspirant Richard Owere Machika while on their way from meeting women at Padula Church of Uganda and travelling in two motor vehicles.
“A fight erupted were some people including one Oketcho Jackson Kiracho sustained injuries and he was rushed to the hospital for treatment and the wind screen of motor vehicle Reg. no. UBJ 501R Toyota Hiace was damaged,” IP Mugwe said.
Mugwe further explained that both parties rushed to Paya Police Station to report the matter, however only one party registered their case at Paya Police Station and the other reported at Cps Tororo. “Counter accusation files opened vide the above references. Scene of crime visited and documented by Soco and other detectives. Statements recorded from relevant witnesses. PF 3 issued to the injured victims,” IP Mugwe said.
Police said the exhibits of damaged motor vehicle window screens, broken sticks recovered from the crime scene. “It was found out that Hon Fox Odoi and Hon Richard Owere Machika are both candidates for NRM flag bearer for the position of MP West Budama North-East Constituency. It was also found out that, Hon Fox Odoi and his agents had gone to campaign at night at Padula Church of Uganda and when the agents of his main contender got information of the same, they went to prevent him from campaigning at night which resulted into a fight,” IP Mugwe said.
