Police in Rukiga district are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Niwamanya Victor alias Simpi, who was aged 30 years.
Nuwamanya Victor was lynched by the locals after he stabbed Ivan Nuwamanya after a bar brawl.
Victor was a resident of Kirimbe cell Kandago parish Bukinda sub county Rukiga district.
Kigezi regional police Spokesperson Elly Mate said on the Sunday at around 23:00hrs, Niwamanya Victor alias Siimpi and others were at the bar of Banet, they developed a misunderstanding and fought.
“It’s that, the deceased was armed with a panga which he used to cut one Niwamanya Ivan on the neck. Niwamanya Ivan was rushed to Muhanga for first aid where he was referred to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital,” Mate said.
Police said thereafter, an angry mob mobilized themselves and attacked Niwamanya Victor Alias Siimpi at his home and lynched him.
“The report was made at Rukiga police station by Tugume Jack the chairman local council 3 Bukinda sub county, the police visited the two crime scenes and were documented,” Mate said
Statements were recorded from key witnesses and the body was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral hospital for postmortem and later handed over to the relatives for a decent burial.
No arrest has been made yet.
Mate said inquiries ongoing with the view of identifying the persons who could have participated in the killing and have them brought to book.
