Police Sniffer Dogs have arrested a man accused of stealing coffee beans in Kanungu district. The suspect has been identified as Phillip Twinomuhwezi.
Twinomuhwezi’s arrest came after Onesmus Asiimwe a resident of Ntabagwe cell Kihembe Parish Kanyantorogo sub county, reported a case of coffee theft.
“It’s alleged that in the night of 18/11/2024, unknown person went to the coffee garden of the above complaint and picked coffee beans,” ASP Elly Mate the Kigezi regional police Spokesperson said.
Asiimwe went to Kanungu police station to report the case and the service of police snifer dog to track the unknown suspect were sought.
“Upon reaching the scene, it was well protected and reserved, the dog prince introduced to the scene picked up the scent and tracked for a distance of 300meters and led police to the house of the suspect where some dropped coffee beans were seen inside after he directed where he sold the coffee to one promise of the same village.”
The suspect was accordingly arrested and detained at cps Kanungu. Exhibit was recovered and exhibited.
