The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and the Italian Ambassador to Uganda, His Excellency Mauro Massoni, this afternoon met at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe.
The discussion centered on matters of mutual interest between Uganda and Italy, with both leaders acknowledging the long-standing historical ties and affirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.
Although Uganda and Italy have maintained diplomatic relations for years, the signing of a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation in 2020 bolstered the relationship.
During the meeting, Gen. Kainerugaba warmly welcomed Ambassador Massoni to Uganda, as it was their first meeting following the latter’s appointment. Ambassador Massoni succeeded Ambassador Massimiliano Mazzanti, whose term in Uganda concluded last year.
