
Since the Queen Elizabeth incident involving an attack on tourists, bus operators for the Kasese route have expressed that there is fear among passengers.
According to the Link Bus Spokesperson Tom Alinde, this being one of their major routes including those going to Fort portal as well and surrounding areas, it has affected the number of passengers.
The passengers include tourists who use public means to tourism sites and those using it as a route to connect to Congo.
Alinde mentioned that as a company they have endeavored to beef up security while working hand in hand with the Kampala Police. He also urged passengers to remain alert and vigorous with security cautions while on travel.
Counter terrorism police meanwhile has also taken off time to sensitize Link Bus staff about terrorism equipping them to watch out for the passengers.
Nelson Ssekandi, the manager of Namayiba Bus terminal revealed that this security threat is going to affect the sector both in trade of merchandise and tourism. “I request police to enforce more security and reassure people that they will be protected.”
