The Uganda Revenue Authority will now be collecting Value Added Tax on auctioned goods and services .
The adjustment has come amidst a few other policies changes in URA regulations to ensure effective harnessing of revenue from citizens.
Some of the other changes include taxation on diapers , amnesty act incase of defaulting on taxes and taxation on non resident digital business among others .
Judith Akello, the Business Policy Domestic Supervisor URA informed the public of changes to be noted saying; “We have introduced VAT on auctioned goods so that the auctioneer can account for VAT on goods and services.”

In addition, she noted that all these changes will help in hitting the 30 Trillion challenge for this financial year’s collection.
Akello highlighted one way of enforcing the revenue collection as turning in defaulters .
Meanwhile, the government of Uganda has been holding a series of discussions to look into its economy following the withdrawal of the World Bank from financing the nation.
A number of changes in the national budget are also anticipated to come along as announced by government.
