ADF has been pressing attacks on Uganda with the most recent big hit being Lhubiriha secondary school in Mpondwe Kasese district where 42 people were killed including 37 students.

Following the incident , attacks in Western Uganda which nears the Congo border have continued to be reported thus paralysing activity in those areas.

However, the president informed the nation that there was need to build stronger intelligence amongst security forces , both human and technical intelligence.

“We need to fill some gaps in intelligence collection and that will be the end of ADF both in Congo and Uganda.”

He recommended that there should always be a standby group, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week but in squads, taking turns to watch over the affected areas.

The president also stressed that there would be no need for closing the Uganda-Congo border while commending President Felix Tshisekedi for being more cooperative.

“Closing the border and building walls is out. The only way is to crash the ADF. Fortunately, with the coming of H.E. Felix Tshisekedi to power, he was more cooperative”

In his address, president Museveni added that night life activity of bars and parties should not be halted over this panic. He assured nationals that security guards would be out looking out for the people as they enjoyed life .

The ADF whose founder Jamil Mukulu has been imprisoned since 2015, operates in the Rwenzururu mountains in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The group has been fighting the Ugandan government since 1996.
