At least three people have been arrested on allegations of killing a 50 year old man, Hamlet Tusasibwe, a resident of Nyamishamba village, Rujengwe parish, Kayonza sub-county, Kanungu district. This murder is registered on CRB 457/2023.
ASP Elly Mate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson, said yesterday at about 07:00 am the deceased’s son Onesmus Atuzarirwe 12, a herds boy went to check on her mother and found the front door open while the behind one was closed.

Mate said the boy trying calling but no one was responding. “He went inside deceased room and found her dead. He rushed immediately to inform his elder brothers. They responded to the crime scene and they went to inform the community members about the incident,” Mate said.
Local told police that they found Tusasibwe lying on her stomach in a pool under the bed with strangulation cloth in the neck and fore left side of the head was injured with blunt object. Police investigations show that the deceased was being accused of practicing witch crafts by the community members.
“The Office in Charge of Kayonza police post Cpl Sam Byaruhanga had conducted three community policing meetings over the said allegations of witch crafts. She was being accused by the the community members of practicing witchcraft and the efforts to reconcile them in vain and they never complied positively,” Mate said.
Atusasibwe’s murder scene was visited and documented before her body was removed from the scene. Three suspects were arrested at crime scene and detained in our police custody and others still at large pending prosecution.
