Argentina Star, Lionel Andres Messi, paid tribute to his long-term friend Neymar Jr after the former officially quit French Paris Saint Germain.

Messi’s exit from PSG has been widely anticipated, and this week, Christophe Galtier confirmed that the World Cup winner’s two-year stint in France would be coming to an end.

In his final match for the Parisians, a defeat to Clermont at the Parc des Princes on Saturday, Messi faced boos from the crowd. However, this did not deter him from paying tribute to his close friend, who is believed to have influenced Messi’s decision to join PSG two years ago.

Playing in Ligue 1 gave Messi the opportunity to reunite with Neymar, with whom he had previously played at Barcelona and formed a strong bond. Messi’s emotional sentiments towards Neymar were expressed in a heartfelt social media post.

Taking to Instagram, Messi wrote, “Thanks Ney! Beyond everything else, we were able to enjoy playing together again and sharing our days. I wish you all the best. Besides being an outstanding player, you are a beautiful person, and that is what truly matters. I love you so much, Neymar.”

The duo first joined forces in 2013 when Neymar made the switch to Barcelona from Santos. In their second season together, along with Luis Suarez, they formed one of the most formidable attacking trios of the modern era, contributing to Barcelona’s treble triumph.

Now, while Messi’s departure is confirmed, Neymar’s future remains uncertain, with speculations linking him to a potential move to Manchester United. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of signing Neymar, who could serve as a marquee acquisition for a potential new owner at Old Trafford.

As for Messi, he has several options available to him. Barcelona is eager to have him back at the Nou Camp, but financial considerations could pose obstacles. Moves to the MLS or Saudi Arabia are also viable alternatives
