A private security guard has shot and killed his colleague at Kalule zone, Lukuli Parish, Makindye Division, in Kampala.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson said John Mujimbi 35, was allegedly killed by his colleague Peter Ochoroi 26, at around 12:30 pm on Saturday.
Owoyesigyire said the killed and suspected killer are both workers of Capital Guards and Patrol. He added that the duo had been stationed at IDAK Apartments in Konge as part of their security duties.
“According to initial reports, the two individuals had been sharing a rented room provided by the company. Both guards were armed with SAR semi-automatic rifles, each loaded with five rounds of ammunition,” Owoyesigyire said.

Police said the duo had been hired to provide security during night time as per their supervisor’s instructions.
“Eyewitnesses reported hearing an argument between the two guards, conducted in a language they did not understand. Shortly thereafter, a gunshot was heard originating from the same room,” Owoyesigyire said.
The area police swiftly responded to the scene, and later joined by the divisional team and the Scene of Crime Officer.
Mujimbi was immediately rushed to Mulago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police recovered two rifles and two small magazines at the scene. ASP Owoyesigyire explained that the recovered magazines are capable of holding five rounds each.
“The magazines were recovered near the firearms. Additionally, two sets of company uniforms were found in the room,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police’s preliminary findings have revealed indicate that the victim sustained a gunshot wound on the forehead thus bleeding to death.
ASP Owoyesigyire said they are yet to establish the motive behind the incident remains unclear and is currently under investigation.
“Efforts are underway to gather additional information about both the victim and the suspect through their employer, the security company,” ASP said.
By presstime, police was conducting a postmortem at Mulago City Mortuary. The bullet cartridges have been submitted to ballistic experts for analysis.
“The primary objective of the ongoing inquiry is to locate and apprehend the suspect. We urge the public to cooperate with law enforcement and provide any relevant information that may assist in the investigation,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.
Yesterday, a police officer identified as, Ivan Wabwire, shot and killed Indian money lender Uttam Bhandari in the afternoon hours.
Bhandari operated a money lending business at Rajja Chambers at Parliament Avenue in Kampala. Police have since said that Wabwire was diagnosed with a mental problem about six years ago.
