A mother identified as Jalia Nansamba Nalongo 39, and her three-year-old daughter, Sharifa, are suspected to have been poisoned to death in Buyenda district. ASP Micheal Kasadha, the Busoga North police spokesperson, said Nansamba and Sharifa were discovered dead on Sunday morning.

Police say this incident occurred in Ingole village Kabukye Parish Kagulu subcounty in Buyende district. Brief facts gathered indicated that Nansamba went to bed on Saturday at 6 pm complaining of headache.
“Together with her daughter, she went to bed, leaving Alaisa Mwandu her cousin sister busy with other domestic chores. At around 09:00pm, Mwandu and other children also went to bed. However, on Sunday at around 10:00am, Mwandu realised that Nansamba was still in bed and her two children were in critical condition,” ASP Kasadha said quoting witness accounts.

Mwandu said she rushed to inform their uncle, Peter Magino, who responded with other neighbours, only to discover that Nansamba together her with her child Sharifa had already died and foam-like substance was in their mouths.
Magino and locals rushed the two children who were in bad condition to Irundu Health centre III, and they were later referred to Kamuli Mission Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
“A team of detectives examined the crime scene, some items of evidential value were recovered, and the bodies were taken to Kamuli general hospital for postmortem. Further inquiries are ongoing to establish more facts in connection with the alleged murder,” ASP Kasadha said.
