Two Arrested Over Football Fight Resulting in Death

Police in Katwe have arrested two people over stabbing to death, Allan Kakumba, who was rescuing his brother from a fight that ensued after Man City defeated Arsenal in F.A cup last Friday.

Kakumba was a resident of Masajja A, Makindye Sabagabo, Wakiso district. The deceased was also Youth Councillor of the same parish.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said Kakumba was rushed to Mulago Hospital but unfortunately passed away.

Owoyesigyire has identified the suspect as Eddie Ssemakula and David Abigaba who are currently in custody at Katwe police station.

“We have also recovered the alleged murder weapon of a knife that has also been exhibited. Abigaba David and Semakula Eddie were fighting over the Arsenal Vs Manchester City match,” Owoyesigyire said.

Police have discovered that Kakumba intervened to rescue his brother, Titus Kyendo and he was allegedly stabbed by Eddie Semakula.

“Allan was rescuing his brother Kyendo Titus from his neighbours Abigaba David and Eddie who had picked a quarrel that resulted into fighting due to a football Match of Arsenal and Man City,” Owoyesigyire said.
