The Flying Squad and its Crime Intelligence counterpart have shot and killed two suspected members of Allied Democratic Forces -ADF rebels who were found armed with two Sub-Machine Guns in Matugga town council, Wakiso district.
A senior military officer has said security agencies raided Kito cell, Matugga town council at around 11pm killing in Akim Kajubi and Male Muhanguzi on spot. “We recovered 66 bullets and one Improvised Explosive Devices -IEDs in their house. The dead bodies taken to Mulago Mortuary,” sources said.
The killed suspects are said to have participated in the attacks on police stations at Busiika police station, in Luweero district on October 31 and also attacked Kyabadaza police station on December 9. In Luweero, an Inspector of Police -IP Alex Wagaluka and Police Constable Moses Ongol were killed on spot.
In Kyabadaza, the armed men first killed two civilians Ibra Kalyango and Peter Nsubuga who questioned them on why they were in their village Kasule Ayanguwa at 11pm. They afterwards attacked Kyabadaza police station where they fired several bullets that forced police officers who were on duty to flee. The attackers also released suspects in the cells.
Between July and November, 10 police officers, soldiers and private security guards were killed by armed people targeting them for their guns. They were rescuing their colleagues who had been arrested by locals over cattle theft.
