Katwe Police Detains 3 People Arrested Over Murder

At least people are in the cells of Katwe police stations on allegations of murder by shooting. The shooting to death of one Tonny resulted from charged locals throwing stones at private security guards deployed at a piece of land at Kirinda village, Busabala parish, in Makindye Ssabagabo municipality.

Before attacking the guards; Prosper Musinguzi and Collin Ndyamuhaki, the locals first held a meeting where they vowed to search for those who lynched their colleague Samuel Kiganda on Monday this week.

During the meeting, locals insisted that Dan Barugahare had participated in the mob action that led to Kiganda’s demise. Some of the locals claimed that they had seen Barugahare pouring paraffin in the ears of the deceased.

Village leaders and locals decided to go and arrest Barugahare whom they found guarding a piece of land alongside Prosper Musinguzi. The Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, as the crowd reached the scene, they started throwing stones at the security guards who were guarding the place.

“One of them released a bullet and shot at one Tonny who was seriously injured and was rushed to Kiruddu hospital where he later died from. Police responded to the scene, documented it, and one riffle was exhibited,” Onyango said.

In response to the incident, police arrested Dan Barugahare, Prosper Musinguzi, and Collins Ndyamuhaki Collins who are currently detained at Katwe police Division.
