The joint security agencies have arrested two more suspects in connection to the shooting of security officers in Kapeeka town council, Nakaseke district, an incident that happened about two weeks ago.
The Kapeeka attack left a Uganda People’s Defence Forces -UPDF soldier Pte Obed Tufeyo, killed but his colleague managed to neutralize two of the attackers. The killed attackers were identified as, Denis Ssekimpi and Burundian national Mulega.
But intelligence forces received a tip yesterday that accomplices of Ssekimpi were in Gganda village, Kyebando parish, in Wakiso district. The intelligence forces proceeded to Gganda for the search and booked their operation in the area on GEF 133/2022.

At the end of the search, Ivan Byamukama 22, was arrested and he is suspected to be among the gang of five that attacked security personnel at Kapeeka.
Upon interrogation, Byamukama is said to have confessed that he worked with Ssekimpi who was a resident of the same village. Byamukama also revealed that Ssekimpi and Muwonge Ssalongo, who was the first person to be arrested over Kapeeka attacker were brothers.
Unfortunately, Muwonge allegedly committed suicide last week when he had been taken to Tororo district to help security agencies trace and arrest his other peers.
The intelligence forces did not stop at arresting Byamukama but also picked Harriet Namatovu a sister to now deceased brothers Ssekimpi and Muwonge. Sources have revealed that Namatovu was arrested while selling small merchandise and a search to her home led to recovery of among other items seven hoods.
Details indicate that Byamukama previously worked as a security guard with Premier Security Company based in Hoima district. “Byamukama has told us that he met Muwonge in prison and he convinced him to be friends. He said he used to guard supermarkets in Hoima district,” security sources said.
