ASP Faridah Nampiima the traffic police spokesperson

Unidentified driver of a Sino truck UBL 314Z has died on spot following a head on collision with a Fuso truck in Mpigi district along the Kampala -Masaka highway.

Faridah Nampiima, the traffic police spokesperson, has identified the Fuso truck as UBK 530T but it’s driver and other occupants survived with serious injuries.

“The Sino truck co-driver was left injured. He was rushed to Nkozi hospital in a critical condition,” Nampiima said.

She added that: “The driver of the Fuso and the occupants all not yet identified were taken to different clinics for medical examination.”

But police say they’re yet to establish what could be the cause of the road crash. The Sino truck driver’s body was also conveyed to Nkozi morgue.

Masaka highway is known for killing dozens in crashes. The situation usually escalates during the festive season. There is worry that this coming festive season could be bloody since traffic checkpoints have since been removed following President Yoweri Museveni directive that they were delaying movement of goods and causing unnecessary congestion.
