The Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) has arrested Patrick Kiwanuka Kagimu a suspected killer of city lawyer Suzan Alweny.
JIC that comprises of Crime Intelligence, Flying Squad, ISO and CMI smoked Kiwanuka from his hide out in Kiwatule three days ago.
Alweny who was the legal officer for Liberty General Insurance was hit after buying roasted meat along Kiwatule – Naalya road on October 1, 2022 at around 9 pm.
The victim who died a day after she was hit with a paver was the wife to Simon Peter Oketcho who had filed a case of a missing person. Oketcho explained to the police that he waited for his wife to return home in vain. She was not picking even though her contacts were on.
Sources have revealed that after commanders of spy agencies tasked JIC team to hunt for Alweny’s killers, the operatives threatened to arrest all criminals known to them. But one of them silently intimated that Kiwanuka was the person who killed the lawyer.
“You know many criminals are known to us because we have arrested them several times and they get out after serving sentences or get freedom on court bail. When we threatened to arrest all criminals, one of the known serial thugs secretly informed us that at time it was Kiwanuka operating at the very spot where Alweny was hit. We tasked him to trail for us Kiwanuka and he did it perfectly,” a flying squad operative said.
Senior Superintendent of Police – SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, confirmed Kiwanuka’s arrest.
“True we have Kiwanuka in our cells and he has confessed that he hit Alweny. He, however, says the deceased’s phone was taken by another colleague of his,” SSP Onyango said.
Kiwanuka is a resident of Kyebando Central but he was hiding in Kiwatule at a friend’s home. It is said that him and other two engaged in another robbery after killing Alweny which is also under investigations.
