
The Uganda police investigators have launched a hunt for socialite Charles Olim alias Sipapa over a robbery of $429,000 from a South Sudanese national Jacob Arok. Detectives have established that Arok’s home was ransacked by thugs on last month on the 29th.
Arok is a resident of Kawuku zone, in Bunga, Makindye East division in Kampala City. Senior Commissioner of Police, Fred Enanga, who is also the Spokesperson of the police force, said a group of thugs broke into the home of the victim, after applying suspected chloroform, on the occupants who were asleep.
During the robbery, the thugs also varnished with 4 iPhones, 2 Apple laptops, a DELL laptop, gold Jewellery for his wife, and a 65” Samsung TV among others. Detectives tracked down an iCloud signal, from one of the stolen iPhones, that led them to the location in Kityo close, Buwate in Kira Division.
Upon interrogation of the occupants, it was revealed that the home belonged to Sipapa who was not at home and had travelled to Tororo. This prompted a comprehensive search in the presence of Nakiyimba Shamira, the wife of SIPAPA and exhibits of evidential material, similar to those reported by Arok that had been stolen from his home were recovered.
Among the exhibits that were recovered from Sipapa’s home include USD 70,000, 4 iPhones, 3 laptops, gold jewellery, an iPhone charger, and a mac pro charger. Other seized exhibits include registration number plates, UBG 025B and UBA 023U, in addition, an assortment of car accessories was recovered which include; 2 amplifiers, 6 tool boxers, 4 sports vims, a rear car seat, 12 headlights, indicators, jeep bumper, V8 bumper, V8 rear boot doors, bonnet, 3 radiators, 4 inner door shutters, V8 rear boot doors, 7 grills, two cars a jeep and Audi, without registration plates, had been resprayed with a red colour and found in the compound.
Enanga explained that they have so far 4 suspects in custody including the wife. In addition, a serious manhunt for Sipapa who is urgently needed for questioning is ongoing. Security has explained that the suspect’s last locations were in Nagongera, Soni and Nawire sub-counties, where he was distributing money in the company of bouncers.
The police have appealed to the public to avail information that can lead to the whereabouts or arrest of Sipapa over the alleged Aggravated Robbery. The accused, according to police, is aware that he is wanted but he is evasive.
Since the Army withdrew the soldiers that had been attached to Sipapa, police have established that the suspect moves with a crew of bouncers in his company. Nevertheless, police have revealed that they shall arrest the bouncers for abetting the crime and harbouring a wanted criminal suspect.
