Man Dies in Water Trench with Cannula on Hand

Assistant Superintendent of Police –ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, who is also the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, confirmed the death.

Shock engulfed residents of Nansana West 11 zone, in Nansana Municipality on Tuesday morning, when unidentified man estimated to be in his mid-20s was found lying dead in a water trench with a cannula on his left hand.

Police was notified about the incident by the area chairman identified as, Dick Mayiga, who was also alerted by locals who saw the body first. Assistant Superintendent of Police –ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, who is also the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said the body was only dressed in a pair of trouser.

Owoyesigyire said police could not readily establish where the deceased had left his shirt or even shoes if at all he had them. However, police upon checking the body retrieved malaria tablets from his pockets.

By press time, police had taken the victim’s body to city morgue for a postmortem. Efforts were on to ensure the deceased’s relatives are traced and the possible clinic where he was coming from in order to understand his last whereabouts.
