The Archbishop of Kampala Dioces, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, has condemned politicians who are ‘buying’ voters like commodities. While conducting the first Sunday sermon at Lubaga Cathedral since the reopening of churches, Lwanga said buying voters reduces the dignity of humanity and Uganda.
Dr Lwanga also condemned the chaos and voter bribery that was exhibit in recent political party primaries. He also castigated politicians who have reduced Ugandans to commodities through buying them for votes.
“The recent party elections had so many evils which undermine the dignity of our motherland. Some Ugandans are being lowered to level of a commodity. Some were killed because they belong to another camp. Let’s be truthful,” Dr Lwanga said.
Fr Achilles Mayanja, who is the Parish Priest of Lubaga Cathedral, said they have introduced 10 missals every Sunday and will only be attended by people who will be coming in early and able to register to attend the mass.
Dr Lwanga also urged people to respect Covid19 SOPs issued by ministry of health. The Archbishop urged Ugandans to learn two lessons from Covid19 pandemic. These lessons he said include knowing that life is very short and one can die at any time. Ugandans have also been reminded to learn that jobs are very temporary and therefore they should always plan accordingly.
At Namirembe Cathedral, congregants had come in big numbers but they were informed that services will be starting next Sunday while at All Saints Nakasero, services were led by Canon Dr Rebecca Margret Nyegenye.
