Shock and grief engulfed residents of Nabweru South Cell II, Nansana Municipality, in Wakiso District when a man allegedly strangled his wife to death on Wednesday morning.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said locals identified the killed woman as, Jane Bonabana, while the husband now turned prime suspect was identified as Andrew Asaba.
Bonabana’s murder was brought to police attention by the Defence secretary one Kamya Masudi. Police was informed by Kamya and other locals that Asaba left the home with their child perhaps to disguise linkage to the crime.
“Police rushed at the scene and the body of the deceased person was conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for Postmortem, Asaba Andrew has also been arrested and is currently detained at Nabweru police station on allegations of Murder. The reason for the murder has not been established,” Owoyesigyire said.
Nansana police has since taken over the investigations. Asaba is a casual labourer. At least 13 people have been killed in domestic brawls in Kampala metropolitan between April and August.
