President Yoweri Museveni has finally allowed prayers inside worship Centres to resume but only 70 people should be allowed in per interval.
Both Muslim and Christian clerics have been pestering government to allow places of worship to resume saying God’s intervention is much needed in this time of Corona Virus Disease.
While making his 20th address on Covid19 this evening, President Museveni allowed churches and mosques to resume but insisting that they must respect Standard Operation Procedures.
“The places of worship, should open with the following precautions. Individual prayers or confessions with priests or counseling with the necessary SOPs. Prayers and fellowships whose numbers do not exceed 70 and by observing all the other SOPs,” Museveni said.
However, Museveni has maintained ban on night and trans-night players. On the regular large gatherings of prayers and preaching of Sundays and Fridays, the government said they will be considered at a later stage.
“This will depend on how the disease will be evolving; but the rule of the number of 70 and not more can be used on the Fridays and Sundays. There should be no Sunday School for children. Let the enemy first go away before the children are involved in this congregate,” Museveni said.
Uganda has registered more than 6000 Covid19 positive cases of which 66 people have succumbed to the contagious disease. At least more than 2600 people have recovered from Covid19.
