Police have arrested seven suspects and recovered an assortment of suspected stolen property during an operation targeting criminal activities in Kinawataka and surrounding areas of Kampala.
The operation was conducted on September 23, 2026, by Jinja Road Police Division through Kinawataka Police in Kinawataka, Kalerwe and Central Zones in Mbuya One Parish, Nakawa Division.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the operation followed intelligence information about a group of suspected criminals allegedly involved in robberies, burglaries, housebreaking and phone snatching in the area.
Among those arrested are Kyabagu Edward, 28, alias Zagga, and Kutosi George, 26, also known as Kiwuka or Virus. The two are being investigated in connection with a robbery case registered at Kinawataka Police Station.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects could be linked to a wider criminal group operating in the area.
Other suspects arrested include Kajura Ronald, Muzaale Godwin, Bengo Arafat, Boyi Samuel and Odomel James Victor, alias Oundo.
Police said some of the suspects are also being investigated over recent cases of burglary, housebreaking and theft of electronic items.
During the operation, officers recovered several items believed to have been connected to criminal activities, including a 55-inch Hisense smart television, speakers, more than 14 mobile phones and a laptop.
Other recovered exhibits include a panga, housebreaking implements, laptop bags and student identification cards.
The suspects are currently detained at Kinawataka Police Station as investigations continue.
Police are working to identify the rightful owners of the recovered property and trace other stolen items. Efforts are also underway to apprehend additional suspects who remain at large and dismantle the suspected criminal network.
Owoyesigyire commended members of the local community for providing information that supported the operation and urged the public to continue reporting suspected criminal activities to police.
Investigations into the suspects’ alleged involvement in the various crimes are ongoing.
