Police are investigating the suspected murder of Matovu Moses, a musician with Afrigo Band, who died after sustaining serious injuries in an alleged confrontation at Kibuli Depot in Makindye Division, Kampala, on Thursday morning.
According to a police statement issued on September 24, 2026, preliminary investigations indicate that Matovu went to his girlfriend’s residence at approximately 5:30 a.m.
It is alleged that as the musician and the woman were leaving the residence, they were confronted by a male suspect who is believed to have previously been in a relationship with the same woman.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain unclear, although preliminary information suggests that the incident may have resulted from a physical altercation.
Matovu reportedly sustained serious injuries during the incident and was rushed to Kibuli Hospital by a boda boda rider. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The woman, who was in the company of the deceased at the time of the incident, has been arrested and remains in police custody, where she is assisting detectives with investigations.
Police said the male suspect has been positively identified but is believed to have fled the scene. Efforts are underway to apprehend him and establish his alleged involvement in the incident.
