Motorised Infantry Division, Air Force College Inspected Ahead of CDF Drill Competition

A joint inspection team from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) headquarters, led by Joint Staff Logistics Brigadier General Edwin Karugaba, has assessed drill preparations at the Motorised Infantry Division and the Uganda Air Force College in Nakasongola Cantonment ahead of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Inter-Forces Drill Competition scheduled for July 2026.

Brig Gen Karugaba commended the Motorised Infantry Division for its strong performance, noting the unit’s remarkable progress within a short preparation period. “What you have achieved in this short time is commendable. You have challenged expectations, but now focus on perfecting the remaining areas as advised,” he said.

He emphasised strict adherence to competition guidelines, adding that only drills meeting the required standards will qualify. “Pay attention to detail and remove what is not recommended,” he added.

Major General Charles Byanyima, Commander of the Motorised Infantry Division, urged troops to remain confident and prioritise excellence beyond the competition. “Do not only think about the award. Focus on mastering the drills because they are essential to your professionalism and effectiveness in the field,” he said, pledging full support to the teams through to the final event.

At the Uganda Air Force College, Commandant Brigadier General Allan Kalanzi commended personnel for their teamwork and discipline, encouraging them to maintain focus as preparations continue. “Teamwork and discipline will determine your success. Keep building on what you have started and remain focused,” he said.

The inspection team included officers from the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), among them Colonel Suzan Oruni Lakot and Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Kafuuma. Senior officers in attendance included Colonel Samuel Ssekamwa, Intelligence Officer, Motorised Infantry Division; Colonel Esibio Omaria, Operations and Training Officer; and Colonel Ali James Uma, Chief Instructor at the Uganda Air Force College Nakasongola, among others.
