Police in Nateete have recovered two suspected stolen cattle following a swift and coordinated response to a tip-off in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police, at approximately 04:00hrs on April 29, 2026, officers received intelligence about a motor vehicle allegedly transporting stolen livestock. Acting immediately, a team intercepted a silver Toyota X-Trail, registration number UAS 521W, along the Busega road opposite the main market in Busega.
Upon interception, the vehicle’s occupants abandoned it and fled on foot, evading arrest. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two live cows believed to have been stolen. The vehicle was impounded and is currently parked at Nateete Police Station as investigations continue.
Police have since registered a case of possession of suspected stolen cattle and say efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects involved. In a related development, police in Nateete conducted operations across Natete and Busega zones in Rubaga Division, resulting in the arrest of 30 suspects linked to various criminal activities.
Similarly, officers in Kira Division carried out an operation in Bbuto Zone, Bweyogerere, where two suspects were arrested while allegedly attempting to break into stores. A screwdriver believed to have been used in the attempted break-in was recovered and exhibited as evidence. All suspects remain in police custody pending court proceedings.
