Museveni Praises Family, Congratulates Muhoozi at 52

KAMPALA — Yoweri Museveni has issued a personal message celebrating family, faith, and political solidarity, as he marked the 52nd birthday of his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on April 24, 2026.

In a statement addressed to “fellow Ugandans, fellow Africans and especially the Bazzukulu,” Museveni began by expressing gratitude to God for his children Muhoozi, Natasha, Patience, and Kyaremeera crediting divine protection and prosperity in their lives. He also paid tribute to First Lady Janet Museveni, whom he commended for raising the children, particularly during the 1981–1986 liberation struggle when she was largely the sole parent present.

The President praised his children for successfully navigating the education system and establishing themselves across different fields, including family life and professional careers. He further acknowledged the support of Ugandans and sections of the African community for standing with his family and the National Resistance Movement throughout its political journey.

Turning to the occasion of the day, Museveni highlighted Gen. Muhoozi’s upbringing “in the resistance,” noting that he was born and raised during a period of armed struggle that brought the current government to power. He credited the general with making “significant contributions” to national efforts, particularly in combating corruption within the military and enhancing the operational strength of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

Muhoozi, a senior military officer and influential public figure, has in recent years remained at the center of national attention, both for his military role and his public engagements. The President’s message blended personal reflection with political acknowledgment, underscoring the enduring link between his family and Uganda’s post-1986 governance trajectory.
