
Former tormentor of Dr Kizza Besigye Superintendent of Police -SP Musa Walugembe has been found dead in a single rented room at Central Zone, Najjanankumbi Parish, Rubaga Division, in Kampala.
SP Walugembe worked alongside also deceased Assistant Commissioner of Police -ACP Sam Omara who was field force unit commander. Omara and Walugembe often blocked Besigye walk to walk protests and detained many of his followers.
SP Walugembe was reported on Monday missing but he has been found dead and in a decomposing state in a single room at Central, Najjanankumbi Parish, Rubaga Division, in Kampala.
SP Walugembe was attached to Police Directorate of Crime Intelligence and Defense Intelligence and Security formerly Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence.
SP Walugembe’s death was brought to police attention in the wee hour of Wednesday morning by the locals who noticed a stench emanating from his room which had been locked from inside.
Police led by Nahabwe Abdellah visited the scene and broke into the house where they discovered SP Walugembe lying dead on his bed.
“The officer in-charge Najjanankumbi police station one SP Nahabwe Abdellah received information of sudden death of her area resident one SP Walugembe Musa. The crime scene was visited by homicide team Katwe police division under the leadership and command of SP Abdellah Nahabwe,” Katwe police reported to Kampala Metropolitan headquarters.
SP Nahabwe was also followed by Senior Superintendent of Police -SSP Moses Lukongo the administrator crime intelligence headquarters.
Police Scene of Crime Officers (SOCCO) examined, processed and fully documented the scene.
Police through recording relevant statements from witnesses say SP Walugembe had complained of chest pain before he went to bed on Saturday evening.
“The deceased had initially been reported missing vide najjanankumbi police station SD REF 32/02/09/25 before a revelation of his death came. The deceased died inside a single room rented house where he lived alone,” police officers said.
SSP Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson confirmed SP Walugembe’s. “The deceased had locked himself inside the house and gaining access to him was by breaking the door shutter. Upon physical examination of the body by the soco and the team, there were no injuries neither abrasions detected on the body,” SSP Onyango said.
