The National Unity Platform (NUP) has selected a new election management committee after some of the members of the previous committee has expressed interest in contesting for elective positions. NUP President Bobi Wine chairing the meeting in which new members of the party’s elections committee were selected.

Below is Bobi Wine’s full statement on new election management committee.

Hon Kyagulanyi – Yesterday, I chaired the National Executive Committee, and Executive Board meetings of the National Unity Platform where we constituted the new Election Management Committee for the Party, passed the guidelines for the upcoming #ProtestVote2026 and approved the roadmap towards 2026.

Ms. Chemtai Harriet who has been our Co-ordinator for Sebei Sub-region (based in Kapchorwa) emerged as the new Chairperson of the Election Management Committee. She will be deputised by Dr. Ivan Ssempijja, formerly a Guild President at Makerere.

I congratulate the entire Committee and assure them of our full support as they embark on their duties. We also received reports on the status of various party activities. Unfortunately, the blockades by the criminal regime have ensured that some of our activities do not take place on schedule, including the establishment and training of Mobilisation Committees in all districts of Uganda, as well as sufficiently preparing for the Youth elections.

We resolved to take the regime head on in every way to ensure that our rights are upheld and protected. Later, we addressed the nation about these issues and the gross human rights violations taking place in our country.
