UPDF, ASTU Recover 751 Bullets in Amudat

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) have recovered a white sack containing 751 live bullets.

According to Morotion regional police spokesperson Mike Longole the recovery of the bullets happened at around midday at Aukukunyo Village, Amudat Parish, Amudat Town Council, Amudat District.

“The information leading to the recovery of the stated ammunitions was brought by a prison Warder Omongo Silver While he had gone to fetch firewood for his home use from the nearby bush within the above village.The prison officer saw abandoned white sack inside the bush and reported,” Longole said.

Security forces visited the scene, cordoned it off and recovered a white sack containing 751 live ammunitions. Longole said a general inquiry file on the matter has been opened.

“We appeal to any member of the public who may be having some relevant information concerning the recovered ammunition can get in touch with our detectives in Amudat District,” Longole said.

Security has requested the public to remain vigilant and report to security forces suspicious items in their localities.
