Opposition members of parliament represented by Goretti Namugga have said they will not set foot in parliament until appropriate action is taken to resolve their concerns.
Despite Speaker Anita Among’s caution to expel all members of parliament that miss 15 consecutive sittings , the opposition members of parliament are unmoved .
Namugga , the Mawogola county member of parliament mentioned during a talk show at Next Radio on Monday evening that the noise concerning 18 missing persons should not be taken as a ploy to create havoc as some have alleged .
“I am representing my people in the 11th Parliament. Do you think I can be comfortable when I hear families cry for their people? We are not comfortable with human rights abuses,” she said.

She noted that the members of parliament have tried all possible means to get their people back in vain, according to her it is no longer time for people to learn from their mistakes but instead give people answers.
She further cried; “he grief of the families that have lost their loved ones cannot be explained. Whoever is claiming that it’s politics at play, politics in whose interest?”
On the other hand , Yusuf Mutembuli, member of parliament from Bunyole East constituency stressed that walking out of parliament would not solve anything.
While he noted that these are serious issues parliament has taken to debate on , he mentioned that the minister of internal affairs needed to be given time to thoroughly make investigation.
” People are linking all these incidences to security officers however people have personal problems. We need to give the minister in charge of Internal Affairs a chance to do the right investigations.”
Mutembuli further added that while opposition members are seeking for answers , they are not present to be heard in parliament.
Namugga retaliated by saying setting foot in parliament is still out of their options and on Tuesday the boy clotting members of parliament will communicate their next course of action.
