Deceased Speaker Oulanyah’s Father, 6 Others to Face Off with CID Over Poison Claims

Nathan Okori, the father of deceased Speaker of Parliament Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah, will be grilled alongside National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine over poison claims.

Oulanyah was declared dead by President Yoweri Museveni on March 20 after spending five weeks at the University of Washington Medical Centre, in Seattle US receiving treatment for illnesses related to cancer.

However, Okori on the day his son was declared dead told the media that his son had died of poisoning. Okori re-echoed the same on the burial day of April 8th insisting that his son told him that he had been poisoned.

Allegations of Oulanyah being poisoned started making rounds in August last year which was about three months after he had won a hotly contested Speakership race against his former boss Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.

In response to poison claims that have persisted on people’s lips, the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) at Kibuli headquarters has vowed to summon Okori, Bobi Wine and six others to offer detailed explanation how Oulanyah was poisoned yet medical examinations in Uganda, Germany and US all point to cancer.

Commissioner of Police -CP Fred Enanga, has revealed that Okori, Bobi Wine will be interrogated Hon. Godfrey Suubi Kiwanda, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi who was mentioned by Hon. Kiwanda, Hon. Gilbert Olanya, Hon. Santa Okot, Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, Bosmic Otim, Mzee L’okori Nathan selected cultural and local leaders as well as several other bloggers.

“…the cause of death of the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, was clearly revealed as “Multiple organ failure of the heart, lungs, liver and kidney” from the University of Washington Medical Centre, in Seattle, USA,” CP Enanga said.

Police adds: “The Former Speaker had also attended other hospitals in Germany, the Uganda Cancer Institute and other hospitals, after he was diagnosed with Cancer in 2019. From all these hospitals, there was no trace of poison, in the systemic circulation and or body organs, as per the medical records.”

Oulanyah had served as deputy Speaker from 2011 to 2021 in May when he was elected as Speaker with 310 votes against his former boss Kadaga who garnered 197 votes. But soon after his victory, Oulanyah started being scarce in public arenas.

In the last months of last year, MPs addressed the media at Parliament demanding to know where Oulanyah had gone. This was after poison claims had picked momentum and he was being declared dead on some social media forums.
