Police have opened investigations into a murder and aggravated robbery case following the death of a young woman in Kyanja, a residential suburb of Kampala.

The crime reportedly took place on the night of February 3, 2026, in Kwaata Zone, Kyanja Ward, Kawempe Division. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, the victim has been identified as Namulinde Diana, a 24-year-old entrepreneur and social media content creator who lived alone in an apartment in the area.

Concern was raised on February 4 when friends failed to contact her and decided to check on her wellbeing. They found her apartment door open and later discovered her body inside, prompting them to alert the authorities. Preliminary police findings indicate that the victim was strangled.

In a significant development, police arrested a security guard attached to the apartment premises on the same day. The suspect was allegedly found with items believed to have been stolen during the robbery. Some of the items were later confirmed to belong to the deceased.

A joint team of homicide detectives and Scene of Crime Officers visited the scene to conduct thorough documentation. Several exhibits were recovered to support ongoing investigations, while statements were obtained from witnesses considered crucial to the case.
