Vehicle Catches Fire on Entebbe Expressway

A vehicle caught fire at approximately 7:58 pm on Entebbe expressway. The incident was alerted to Entebbe Police station by another road users after the driver looked helpless as the vehicle reduced to ashes.

“Police received a report regarding a burning vehicle on the Entebbe Expressway near Nambigirwa Bridge. Fire Prevention and Rescue Services responded swiftly and successfully contained the blaze. The vehicle, a Subaru with registration number UBB 837 C, was found unoccupied at the scene,” ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy Kampala Metropolitan police Spokesperson said.

Owoyesigyire added that investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire. Police said two additional vehicle fire incidents have been reported recently along the Entebbe Expressway.

“We urge all motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good mechanical condition before setting off. Additionally, we advise drivers to carry portable fire extinguishers to help control fires before they escalate and cause extensive damage,” Owoyesigyire added.

Police noted that they are grateful to report that no lives were lost in any of the three incidents. The force has promised to avail further details as they will have become available.
