Police have apprehended six people including the an alleged masterminder in killing of Bweyogerere Petrol station manager have been arrested.
Agnes Nantongo 30 year old who was a manager at Africa Oil fuel station in Bweyogerere, and resident of Matuga, was ambushed and killed near Agenda Bridge on the Northern Bypass after being struck with a blunt object by unknown assailants on 28th September 2024.
Now the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango has confirmed that Crime Intelligence and CID detectives made a breakthrough on Monday night and arrested six including the prime suspect who muster minded the murder identified as Edward Kaweesa who was shot in the leg trying to escape.
Kaweesa and his accomplices, Jimmy Serunjoji, Robert Mwanje, Ali Muteesa, Juma Busulwa, and Mugambe Pius, were arrested on Monday at Dube parking yard.
Onyango said the breakthrough to the arrest of the five came after analyzing Kaweesa’s call data.
During the arrest police also recovered two motorcycles- UFQ 934K and UFB 788Z and 174 SIM cards from various networks that are believed to be linked to different robberies robbery and murder victims.
A recent report from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) revealed that increasing criminal activities on the Northern Bypass are being orchestrated by ex-convicts, who are reverting to their old habits and resuming criminal activities immediately after serving short sentences.
