Over 120 Billion To be Allocated to Rehabilitation of Schools Next Financial Year

The Minister of State for Higher Education has announced that the government will give priority to rehabilitation of schools come the next financial year.

Dr. Muyingo John Chrysostom noted that over 120 Billion Uganda shillings has been approved to be set aside for the particular cause.

For a long time now, media reports have high lighted a number of schools with dilapidated structure where some have even endangered the lives of students because of their poor condition. Seasons of National Examinations always magnify the state of schools when invigilators meet the shock of their lives across the country.

As part of commemoration of the International Day of Education whose celebrations will take place on March 21 2024 at Kololo Independence Grounds, Dr. Muyingo revealed that the government chose to demonstrate its commitment to education by releasing the funds.

“We are proud to announce that many of our primary schools will be rehabilitated next year, over 120 Billion shillings has been put aside which is a significant step to enhancing access to education.”.,said Muyingo.

In addition he also revealed that the government will construct new seed schools to the tune of 247.

This all comes after the government has decided to make Universal Primary Education compulsory beginning next year.

At these celebrations Uganda will be marking 27 years of Universal Primary Education which has seen that a number of children are able to attain inclusive education.
